Meet Greystones

Zach

Zach’s key areas of focus are commercial and corporate advisory, dispute resolution and litigation. He seeks to partner with clients and build long-term relationships, and is often retained in a consultant role to provide project design and implementation support in addition to legal advice.

​

He acts for clients in the health, bio-technology and construction industries, and has particular experience in matters involving equity financing. He also regularly acts for clients on a pro bono or reduced fee basis, in particular in human rights matters and criminal law matters.

 

Recent experience includes:

  • Acting for a Singapore-based private equity firm in commercial litigation in Australia;

  • Advising an Australian biopharmaceutical and medical research group in relation to capital raising, including IP protection and pre-IPO restructuring;

  • Acting for the trustees of a property investment trust in litigation brought by a beneficiary of the trust;

  • Acting for a Hong Kong-based private equity firm in relation to a commercial dispute with an Australian private equity firm;

  • Acting for medical professionals in relation to disputes with employers and regulators;

  • Advising on the establishment of a national chain of medical practices;

  • Advising on the aggregation of a national group of allied health practices, including private and public equity funding.

Andrew

Andrew has experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure corporate compliance. Andrew has in excess of 15 years experience in the management of legal practices as a non-legal practitioner director. He has also worked extensively with legal and accounting firms, in particular as the manager of an firm of insolvency practitioners, and has experience in corporate and personal insolvency matters.

 

Immediately prior to the formation of Greystones Andrew was General Manager of an ASX listed public company. He was responsible, in part, for the development of corporate policies, procedures and for corporate compliance. He is experienced in public company audit procedures and has been director of both private and public companies.

 

He is currently responsible as the General Manager of a large private consortium, and is engaged in corporate advisory roles for both listed and unlisted public companies. 

Mike

Mike typically has oversight of Greystones projects at the strategic level. He works with clients to ensure that the legal responses, where deployed, support the desired commercial outcomes.

In addition to his qualifications as a lawyer, Mike holds a Diploma in Management from the University of Canberra. He is a Commissioned Officer in the Australian Army and is a qualified ADF Inquiry Officer, accredited by the Inspector-General ADF and has conducted serious and complex inquiries under the Defence (Inquiry) Regulations 2018, both domestically and in ADF operational areas.

In 2018 Mike was appointed as a Senior Member of the Commonwealth Veteran’s Review Board which hears, inter alia, disputes relating to financial assistance for medical treatment and rehabilitation services. He was previously a Senior Executive in the Queensland Public Sector and has extensive experience in regulatory and sectoral reform in Queensland.

Mike has a strong commitment to social justice issues and in appropriate matters he acts on a pro bono basis. He has volunteered at an independent community legal centre where he provided advice to prisoners in Queensland correctional facilities on a wide range of matters including applications for parole, judicial review of government decisions and general legal issues. â€‹He is an experienced advocate who relates to his clients and prides himself on delivering outcomes that make a real difference to peoples' lives.
